SUMMER BASEBALL OPTIONS

During the summer, Fairfield National Little League (FNLL) attempts to field at least 1-2 travel teams at each of the 8 to 12-year-old levels.

For ages 9-12, a player evaluation occurs around mid-May / early-June which is conducted objectively by qualified evaluators.  The evaluation results, combined with perspectives from Spring-season managers, are combined and used during the team selection process.

Ages 10-12

At ages 10-12, the teams are separated into District All-Star and Tournament All-Star teams.

The District Teams are generally the highest-level team in the age group and compete in the official, Little League International-sponsored District Tournament. Participation on District teams requires a significant time commitment from both the player and family.  Many of these teams will practice or have games 5-7 days per week from approximately mid-June through July/August.  If selected, players are expected to be available 100% for all activities.

The Tournament All Star Teams compete against other towns and leagues within the state, in both league play and tournaments.  These teams typically practice or play games 3-5 days per week from mid-June through July.

Age 9

At age 9, one or two Tournament All-Star teams are typically formed.  These teams compete against other towns and leagues in the state, in both league play and tournaments - including a tournament hosted by FNLL.  These teams typically practice or play games 3-5 days per week from mid-June through July.

Age 8

At age 8, FNLL aims to create two and sometimes three balanced travel teams, depending upon division size and available coaches, that will compete against other towns in coach-pitch and/or machine-pitch tournaments and games. The intention is that teams are organized to be roughly equal in talent.

SUMMER HOUSE LEAGUE OPTION (AGES 9-12)

In addition to summer travel teams, Fairfield American Little League (FALL) typically runs a Summer House League that is open to all FNLL players.

Fairfield American plans to run two Summer House League divisions: one for 9 & 10-year-old players with the other being for 11 & 12-year-old players.  These divisions are open to every FNLL player who wishes to continue having fun on the diamond in the summer months.

The Summer House League runs from late June to the end of July. The Summer House League plays approximately 2 games per week, so roughly 12 games in total - much like the FNLL spring season.

AGES 10 - 12 DISTRICT ALL-STAR TEAMS

Fairfield National Little League (FNLL) will be represented by District All-Star teams that will compete in the District 2 Little League Tournament, where the rules of eligibility and play shall be conducted in strict accordance with those promulgated by Little League Baseball, Inc. Williamsport, PA.  One team will be selected to represent FNLL in each age of the three age group levels available for District Tournaments.

The final roster for District All-Star teams shall consist of 11 - 14 players.**

** Any request for a District team with less than 12 players will require approval from District 2 and potentially Bristol and/or Little League International

AGES 9 - 12 TOURNAMENT ALL-STAR TEAMS

FNLL will be represented by Tournament All-Star Teams that will compete in local tournaments and games against similar teams from other Little Leagues.

Typically, the 9-year-old team(s) competes in two main tournaments, one hosted by Monroe and one hosted by Fairfield National (FNLL), with support from Fairfield American.

The final roster for Tournament All-Star teams shall consist of 12 - 14 players.

AGE 8 SUMMER TEAMS

At age 8, FNLL aims to create two, sometimes three, balanced travel teams that will compete against other towns in coach-pitch and/or machine-pitch tournaments and games. The teams are organized to be roughly equal in talent.

SUMMER HOUSE LEAGUE

In addition to All-Star and Tournament Teams, Fairfield American Little League (FALL) typically runs a Summer House League that is open to all FNLL players.

Fairfield American hosts a Summer House League program which consists of two divisions: one for 9 & 10-year-old players, the other for 11 & 12-year-old players.  Fairfield American extends an invite to our league, so these divisions are open to every FNLL player who wishes to continue playing baseball during the summer months.

The Summer House League runs from late June to the end of July. The Summer House League plays approximately 2 games per week, so roughly 12 games in total - much like the FNLL spring season.

POSTSEASON TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA (AGES 9 - 12)

1. Managers from each spring team will nominate qualified players from their regular season spring team to the Player Agent to attend an All-Star evaluation conducted objectively by qualified evaluators.

2. For divisions with sufficient player and coach interest to support two All-Star teams, managers across such divisions will nominate a minimum of 24 players and a maximum of 30 players to attend the All-Star evaluation.

3. For divisions where interest level would result in only one All-Star team, managers across such divisions will nominate a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 18 players to attend the All-Star evaluation.

4. Managers from each spring team will also submit to the Player Agent, a list of 12 nominees per age bracket of players in their respective division who they feel would best represent FNLL All-Star teams.

5. All-Star evaluations will be held for each age bracket. All-Star evaluations will be conducted objectively, by qualified evaluators, with no financial conflict of interest, defined as, individuals who, for financial gain, coach, teach, train, or organize for compensation, FNLL players eligible for that evaluation, or personal interest, defined as, in that they may not have a child trying out for any All-Star team.  League managers and coaches shall not participate.

6. A weighted combination of All-Star evaluation results and spring manager nominations will be used for overall player assessment.

7. District All-Star Team rosters will be made up of nine players selected by the combined evaluation results noted above and the balance of the roster selected by the District All-Star manager, which takes into consideration many factors including overall baseball aptitude, player attitude, and/or position needs.

8. Tournament All-Star Team rosters will then be selected by the Team Manager taking into consideration the combined evaluation results of players.

9. All rosters are subject to review and approval by the Player Agent and President.

10. The All-Star managers and coaches shall be nominated by the Player Agent and approved by the President and the Board of Directors.

POSTSEASON ELIGIBILITY AND FEES

1. Players must play 75% of their regular season team's scheduled games,

including playoffs, to be eligible for All-Star teams. Playing a game is defined as being present for all 6 innings of play during said game. This rule may be waived by the President and/or the Player agent for any player who was unable to fulfill this mandatory participation requirement due to injury or illness.

2. Postseason team managers will collect league established fees for each player on their team.

For District All-Star teams, the manager must present fees to the President at the time the affidavit is presented to the Player Agent and President for approval. Any player from whom the fee is not received and has not been granted a waiver or deferral by the Treasurer or President, shall be stricken from the affidavit/roster, and shall be replaced by the next best candidate in the manager's discretion.
