Around The Bases With...Harrison Bader

Welcome to "Around The Bases With..." a new regular feature where we get around the diamond with some of the people that help make FNLL, and baseball, fun! Players, coaches, volunteers, league officials, and maybe a surprise guest or two.

To kick-off the series, we wanted to start with someone who was worthy of a grand unveiling of the new website so we were lucky enough to get NY Yankee Harrison Bader to give us some time and share his thoughts with our young players.

So, without further ado, let's get out of the box and start running!

1st Base: What advice would MLB player Harrison Bader go back and give Little League player Harrison Bader?
HB: "Never let anyone tell you you are too small to be a good player!"

2nd Base: What is your fondest memory from your Little League days?
HB: "My fondest memory is my first home run. I got a slightly bigger bat and the first time I used it I hit my very first home run over the left centerfield wall. It barely got out, but it counts!"

Rounding 3rd: How much of what you learned in Little League has carried over throughout your baseball career?
HB: "I started in Little League because I loved to play baseball. That love began in Little League and hasn't changed a single day since my first game on the field."

Sliding into Home: Which is better: Game-winning home run, or game-saving diving catch for the final out?
HB: "I always play to win, so both options are good for me. However, I have never hit a walk-off home run before - it's something I still dream of, so I'm sure that would be the better choice."
Never let anyone tell you that you are too small to be a good player!
